Charlie Sheen Is #Winning

Okay Breakers- If you follow popular culture, the daytime, mid-day, or nightly news, you KNOW Charlie Sheen has been the talk of the town. Whether he's on the Today Show, Piers Morgan, or bi-winning, every newscast since Monday has been Charlie-centric.
Since many of you are looking to get your start in the industry, I thought it would be valuable to break down how Charlie got his start in the entertainment world. It's always nice to know how people in the news EVERY DAY get their start..Right? With all this media attention I was curious as to how he made such a name for himself.

Charlie Sheen was born Irwin Estevez on September 3, 1965, in New York City. At the time his father, Martin Sheen was a young actor on Broadway. His mother, Janet Sheen, met Martin right after he moved to NYC to pursue acting. Charlie's parents had three other children, Emilio Estevez, Rene Estevez, and Ramon Estevez.

Sheen's first role was opposite his father in the movie, The Execution of Private Slovik (1974). It was a small role and this is where Charlie explains that the acting bug took a big bit.
Charlie jumped on the crazy train early in life and I thought the most effective way to display this was a timeline.

High School- Charlie was expelled due to poor grades and bad attendance. I guess he started early with bad behavior on repeat eh?

1984- Film role in Red Dawn.

1986- Starred in the Oscar-winning movie, Platoon. Charlie played a young solider caught in a crisis in Vietnam. He received rave reviews for his performance. Perhaps a start to a a budding, evergreen career? I think not!
1987- Director Oliver Stone casts Charlie in Wall Street, opposite Michael Douglas, and his father, Martin Sheen. This movie became an insta-hit, and people still talk about it today. (Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps)

1988-Young Guns
1989-Major League

1990- Shot fiancé Kelly Preston in the arm. Needless to say- she broke off the engagement, and married Danny Zucco.

1991-Hot Shots!

1992 to 94'- Develops a party boy persona...Ladies and Gents, the downfall has begun. GAH, I LOVE THIS PART!
1995- Testified in the Hollywood trial of Madam Heidi Fleiss. Charlie admitted to spending almost $50,000 on her prostitutes.
1996- Ex-Girlfriend, Brittany Ashland filed charges claiming that Charlie physically abused her. He was charged with misdemeanor battery. He was given a year's suspended sentence, two years' probation and a $2,800 fine.
1998- Hospitalized in Thousand Oaks for a drug OD. A few weeks later he was sent to rehab where he decided to leave a day later. He said, "I’d be drinking away, doing blow (cocaine), popping pills and telling myself that I wasn’t an addict, because there wasn’t a needle stuck in my arm!"
2000- Now a year sober, Sheen was chosen to replace Michael Fox on the ABC sitcom, Spin City. It only lasted two more seasons, but he won a Golden Globe for Best Actor In A Television Series Musical or Comedy.
2002- Married actress Denise Richards. They met on a movie together. AWWW! Good Advice (2001)

2003- Two and a Half Men premiere on CBS. Charlie basically played himself- an irresponsible, playboy, womanizer. The show was a HIT! He became the highest paid comedic television actor in the business.
2004- Daughter Sam was born. Shortly after, Denise and Charlie announced she was pregnant with a second child.
2005- In March Denise filled for divorce. She was six months pregnant. Their second child, Lola, was born a few months later.
2006- Charlie began dating fellow actress Brooke Muller. They met at a Hollywood party. Uber romantic! (Not!).
2009- Married Brooke, and had twin boys, Max and Bob. On Christmas Day of the same year, Charlie was arrested and charged with domestic assault against his wife. The judge sentenced him to 30 days in rehab...AGAIN.
2010- Sheen signs on for two more years of Two and a Half Men at a reported $1.78 Million per episode.
2011- This brings us today. If you want to know what’s going on now turn on the TV, or follow Charlie Sheen on twitter. @CharlieSheen. It's the best decision I've made all week. #tigerblood #winning #chooseyourvice

  1. So while I'm enjoying Mr. Sheen's media parade as much as anyone, obviously something is not right with him. So with all the attention and the twitter winning, is the public supporting him or encouraging possibly self-destructive behavior? Or should we care at all?
